What is Smallwireless all about ?
Specialties:
RF design, PCB layout, low level assembler programming (PIC), digital and analogue design, mechatronics, power supplies, project planning, specifications, test jigs, ultra low power radio techniques, data communications, industrial control.
We maintain a well equipped RF test facility (in Basingstoke) capable of pre-compliance testing to EN300-086 or better, R&D work and small-batch build work
Discrete "design task" contracts since 2019 include:
Wavetrend Ltd (Sigfox module evaluation and antenna design support)
ThumbSat Ltd (Low power UHF orbital downlink transceiver, and an RTL-SDR)
Siignal Ltd (Traffic light control radio network, and UHF transceiver design)
Gather Tech Ltd (Social alarm decoders and fob transmitter design work)
Multitone Ltd (Re-design of a pager , replacing an obsolete IF chip with discrete circuits, with several circuit iteration in VHF and UHF bands, then the design of a multi-channel UHF paging receiver, and the associated talk back audio circuits)
Radiometrix Ltd. (Ongoing technical support contract, plus a number of low power UHF and VHF transmit and transceiver module designs, component obsolescence work, technical document prep. work, and both hardware and firmware realisation of several wireless alarm network products)
In addition, Smallwireless has conducted independent R&D into:
RF power meter design, DC-DC converters (for LED lighting applications), ultra-low distortion FM demodulators, SX1272 (LoRa) and Si4464 evaluations (and experimental module implementation), ultra-narrow bandwidth data communication, and the use of low cost switching mosfets in HF and VHF power amplifiers.
